SEMRush Pricing – How Much Does SEMrush Cost

by Lewis Ogden | Last Updated: July 30, 2021 | Blogging

With over 6 million users (as of July 2020) and counting, SEMrush is now arguably the world’s most popular SEO intelligence tool. And that’s not all. It also turns out that SEMrush boasts the most expansive analytics database, which currently covers over 20 billion keywords across more than 802 million domains and 142 geo-databases.

Make no mistake about it though. While SEMrush is fundamentally renowned for its data-rich SEO insights, it happens to venture into other marketing channels too..

SEMrush Overview

In addition to keyword research, traffic analytics, competitive analysis, and site audit tools, you’re bound to find an ad builder, a content analyzer, a brand monitoring tool, a social media poster along with a social media tracker, a market explorer, as well as a content optimizing assistant.

In short, therefore, it’s true what they say about it- SEMrush is indeed an all-inclusive research and analytics tool for digital marketers.

Now that’s impressive, we must admit. But then again, it begs the question, how much should you expect to pay for these tools over the long haul?

This article dives deep into the SEMrush pricing plans to reveal not only their features and cost details, but also the extra nitty-gritty you might not find on SEMrush’s main site.

However, in case you happen to be in a hurry, here’s a quick TL;DR summary that discloses the basic cost details. But, you might want to stick with me till the end to discover all those small hidden extras that await you on the SEMrush platform.

TL;DR – How Much Does SEMrush Cost?

Generally, SEMrush comes with three core pricing plans along with two extra package options. Each of the three primaries offers a monthly rate as well as a corresponding discounted annual rate, while the two supplementaries cater to both ends of the user spectrum- beginners and enterprise marketers.

That said, here are all five package options:

And with that, let’s now go into the details of each SEMrush pricing plan.

The Complete Breakdown of SEMrush Pricing Plans

Based on the cost attributes we’ve mentioned so far, there are two particularly outstanding things you must have noticed about SEMrush.

For starters, SEMrush isn’t exactly what you’d call a cheap digital marketing solution. With the core premium packages costing between $99.95 and $399.95 per month, it’s understandable why budget businesses might argue that SEMrush is beyond their reach.

Thankfully, however, SEMrush doesn’t completely exclude them. At least it generously offers a decent free package, which can comfortably sustain a standard website.

But, don’t be mistaken. The free provisions don’t stop there. You see, in addition to the SEMrush Free package, you’ll find a free trial offer on the premium plans. That means you could go ahead and test out the advanced features before committing yourself for the long haul.

Sadly, though, the free trial here runs for only 7 days. Then once you’re done, you could either cancel the service or proceed with one of the premium pricing plans.

Now, to help you make an informed choice when it comes to that, here’s a complete breakdown of SEMrush’s pricing plans:

SEMrush Free

Permanently Free

If you’re familiar with the official SEMrush pricing schedule, then I guess this package might seem a bit confusing.

Well, the thing is, you won’t find it alongside the rest of the package options. Looks like SEMrush prefers to keep it hidden, probably to compel prospective users to dig into their pockets for the premium subscriptions.

Nevertheless, you can rest assured SEMrush Free won’t charge you anything in the long run. It provides quite a reasonable set of tools for basic research and analytics.

You can, for instance, deploy a one website project, complete with SERP position tracking for 10 different keywords. And if you’re ever unsure about the most ideal keywords, the on-page SEO checker will give you 10 keyword recommendations per month.

Other notable features include; SEO writing assistant with one template, one SEO content template, topic research for two topics, post tracking for five URLs, content auditing for up to 50 pages, limited brand monitoring, domain and keyword analytics with up to 10 reports per day, social media tracking for five profiles, as well as site audits of up to 100 pages per month.

All in all, these features should comfortably cover a basic site. The tools can help you set up an SEO strategy from scratch, plus learn how to track your site’s performance using advanced digital marketing analytics.

SEMrush Pro

$99.95 per month when billed monthly, or $83.28 per month when billed annually.

Being the cheapest premium package, SEMrush Pro is where the real game begins. It takes things up a notch, allowing you to set up three separate projects, along with up to 500 ranking keywords, which are then tracked and updated on a daily basis.

The domain and keyword analytics tool, on the other hand, stretches to 3,000 reports per day, with 10,000 results per report. You should also expect 500 keyword unit recommendations per month from the on-page SEO checker, plus PPC keyword research capabilities, 100,000 SEO page audits per month, and 50 trackable social media profiles.

With that, the target market for SEMrush Pro is freelancers in the field of digital marketing, as well as startups and small businesses.

SEMrush Guru

$199.95 per month when billed monthly, or $166.62 per month when billed annually.

SEMrush Guru is more like the intermediate-level plan on the SEMrush platform. This is what you upgrade to when your agency or business is increasingly expanding, with more than 10 campaign projects running concurrently.

And speaking of which, the precise number of projects you can manage here at once is 15. SEMrush allows you to track their daily SERP ranking across 1,500 keywords, plus conduct SEO site audits of 300,000 web pages per month.

Then when it comes to domain and keyword analytics, SEMrush Guru manages to generate up to 5,000 reports per day, with each report carrying 30,000 results. And while you review such intel, you could further take advantage of 800 monthly keyword recommendations from the on-page SEO checker.

So far so good. But, get this. Guru doesn’t stop there. Rather, it turns out SEMrush goes beyond the basic tools to give Guru users an extra edge through multitargeted tracking, and historical data analytics.

That essentially means you can keep tabs on your projects’ performances across various search languages, devices, and locations at the same time. Then historical data analytics, on the other hand, gives you the privilege of digging deep into SEMrush’s database archives. So much so that you could explore insights as far back as 2012.

Otherwise, having said that, other significant goodies on the SEMrush Guru plan include; unlimited topic research, marketing calendar with unlimited collaborators, post tracking for 60 URLs, and content auditing for 20,000 pages.

SEMrush Business

$399.95 per month when billed monthly, or $333.28 per month when billed annually.

So far, we’ve established that while SEMrush Free is fairly decent, SEMrush Pro is where the big boys get started, then SEMrush Guru subsequently adds some extra seasoning into the mix for a much more powerful burst of digital marketing oomph.

Quite impressive, to say the least. But then again, just when you think it can’t possibly get any better, SEMrush still manages to find space for an additional set of features. The result is the SEMrush Business plan, which happens to pack a heck of a lot of smart marketing tools.

This is the point where, for instance, you get to optimize your Google Shopping framework using product listing ads research. Then to top it off, SEMrush hands you API access, white-label reports, extended display advertising analysis, CPC data maps, and AMP audits.

Otherwise, you can set up as many as 25 projects, position tracking for 5,000 keywords, 10 plagiarism checks on the SEO writing assistant, site audits for 1 million pages per month, an unlimited number of calendars, plus up to 50 scheduled PDF reports.

What’s more, SEMrush Business generates up to 10,000 domain and keyword analytics reports per day, with 50,000 results on reach report. Then the on-page SEO checker features 2,000 keyword recommendations per month, while social media tracking covers 300 profiles.

Hence, in the end, only large enterprises and agencies with expansive web projects can exhaustively leverage all these features.

Over To You

From the look of things, it seems that SEMrush has specifically tailored its costs and packages based on the needs of large enterprises, digital marketing agencies, mid-to-high tier blogs, content marketing strategists, PPC consultants, SEO professionals, plus in-house marketers working for growing businesses.

And speaking of which, I guess it’s now over to you. Where would you say you lie? And which SEMrush pricing plan seems to offer the best balance of cost and tools for that specific use-case? Or would you rather go for a SEMrush alternative such as Spyfu, Ahrefs, and Moz?
